This week is State basketball for boys and, unfortunately Milford didn\u2019t make.<\/p>\n
I did take some pictures of Ken and his 9th<\/sup>\u00a0grade team during the regular season.<\/p>\n Coaching this team was something he truly enjoyed.\u00a0 He loved working with the boys, the spirit of the game and just being a part of the whole high school basketball world. I think he also liked working with Tony. Coaching kind of forced him to keep a schedule, plan his day and\/or week ahead of time, get up early, go to bed late and then do it all over again the next day and he was responsible for washing the boys’ uniforms. He did a good job with everything and still had time to do the afternoon dishes for me.\u00a0 He\u2019s hoping he\u2019ll be able to coach again next year but there are two or three teaching positions at Milford that are opening up and one of those could be filled by someone who wants the Freshmen coaching job as well.\u00a0 Tony did ask Ken if he would consider coaching the Reserves, but he really prefers the Freshmen. Ken may get to help with a team camp over the summer but that\u2019s up in the air right now s well. We\u2019ll just have to wait and see what happens in the months to come.<\/p>\n Annie and Zelda:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n It has been cold, very cold for a long period of time this winter so the dogs have been eager to come into the house.\u00a0 Ruth especially likes to claim her place in front of the wood stove. While Zelda has a little bulk on her, Annie is just skin and bones. She gets fed quit a bit but she is constantly running so it\u2019s hard for her to keep any weight on.\u00a0 Actually, that seems to be a trait of Setters because I remember Ruth was just as thin until she got older and then when we had her spayed.\u00a0 Since Annie and Zelda have more or less grown up together Annie likes to curl up next to Zelda to keep warm or use her as a pillow.\u00a0 During the day they have to be kenneled, (I can\u2019t image what the basement would look like if they spent all day down there). We have a heated water bowl in the kennel by the chicken coop so they\u00a0 spend their days together in there.\u00a0 I think Annie appreciates having Zelda there to help keep her warm.\u00a0 We bought them each a new dog bed and put in there. It wasn\u2019t a day or two and they had them completely torn apart.\u00a0 For a while after that all they had was a piece of carpet to lay on.\u00a0 When it started getting really cold I put another heavier bed that I had made out there.\u00a0 So far it\u2019s still in one piece although they have drug it outside a time or two.\u00a0 Unfortunately they got crazy one day and tore the little door off so now the cold wind can blow in on them all the time.\u00a0 Guess they\u2019ll just have to put up with it.<\/p>\n Baby Quilt:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Mark and Chris were expecting grandchildren numbers 15 and 16, Kyle and Delen expecting a little girl and Josi and Justin expecting a little boy.\u00a0 Ken and I have always though a lot of Josi, she is a hard worker who had some tough times with her ex-husband so we were very excited for her and Justin.\u00a0 I wanted to do something special for her so I made this rag quilt for their baby.\u00a0 It has blue minke fabric on the back which is very soft. The front is made up of fleece blocks with flannel used as the batting.\u00a0 I really enjoyed working on it. Chris said that Joci claims this is her favorite blanket.<\/p>\n Visits:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n We love having Emma and Margaret come stay with Grandpa and Grandma, and its even better when Aaron and Kalie stay too.\u00a0 Just ask Ruth . . . all rules go right out the window when Aaron is home and she seems to know that and takes advantage of it.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/steele.farm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180120_124612.jpg\")
