We made it to the Nebraska State Fair again this year.  While I miss the old fairgrounds in Lincoln, I love that they have moved to Grand Island and taken on a more agricultural theme.<\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n

 We had to stop in and check out the goats. This guy was always talking to the younger ram in the next pen. He sounded pretty gruff so I’m sure he was telling the younger goat who was boss.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n

 This was the largest steer, He was half Angus and half Waygu and he weighed nearly 3,000 pounds.<\/p>\n

 Always glad to see the kids doing “hands on” learning. Luckily most milk cows are pretty tame.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n

 There was a wild west show that was pretty funny.  Some adult humor thrown in that was over most of the kids’ heads.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n

 Ken’s knees were getting tired so we sat and watched the long horn show which was going on just before the draft horse show.<\/p>\n

I know I probably get this from my Dad, but here is my favorite part of the whole State Fair… the draft horse show.  It’s amazing to watch the 6-horse hitch as they prance around, usually in unison. Ken and I have talked about the money and time that it takes to go around from state fair to state fair and to shows.  All of the tack, wagons, feed not to mention a trailer large enough for all of the horses. It’s wonderful what they do. I can image children raised in this setting learn the meaning of hard work and dedication very early and I am in awe of the families that do this.<\/div>\n
