Happy Easter . . . or Merry Christmas

Happy Easter!!

Well, it seemed more like Merry Christmas this year.  Listening to the weather forecast the day before created some talk of cancelling the Steele Family Easter. Dennis and Carol were the hosts and Chad had already let them know that he and his family would not be making the trip down due to the weather. Carol, Nancy and I texted back and forth and ended up deciding to go with a ‘wait and see’ attitude.  Nate, Cori, Lucas and Maxwell had come down early and were staying with Bubba and Mason, but Nate and Cori were up during the night with Maxwell, he had a cold and wasn’t sleeping well. They had talked about just heading home rather than coming to the Party Barn.

Well, come Sunday morning we went to 6:00 am Mass at the Cathedral and we hardly saw a snowflake in Lincoln.  But as we headed home after Mass, there was snow starting on the outskirts of town.  By the time we got to Hickman is was snowing a little harder.  By mid-morning we had two or three inches and it was still snowing.

If nothing else, the Steele’s are an adventurous group and most of them made the drive.  Aaron, Kalie and the girls came down early to help us and Dennis and Carol.  Carol had her other knee replaced back in February and is still doing Physical Therapy. Dennis had to go back on chemo for his leukemia and the first few weeks were pretty hard for him.

Kalie asked me to take some family Easter pictures of them, so I thought I would share one of them.

This year I thought I would make a raisin pie for Ken for Easter. Since I was using the old white pie tin that AM used to use I was feeling very confident that with her help, this pie might come out pretty well.  I was so confident in fact, that I decided to use one of the pie birds from my collection.  I picked the penguin and as Aaron said with the snowy weather that was much more appropriate than if I had used a rabbit. If I do say so myself, it came out very well. Thanks AM!

Gabi and the girls came down early so they were able to make it.  And Nate and Cori decided to come after all.

Unfortunately there was no Easter Egg Hunt.  Carol just passed out the Easter baskets.

We leave the baby walker in the Party Barn for anyone to use. Emma has always considered the walker to be her’s but Paityn did get to spend some time in it.  Paityn’s good at pushing herself backwards.

When she was done, Emma crawled in it and of course Aaron thought he would make it more exciting for her.

Back at the house after everyone had left Kalie had Margaret model some cute little Easter hats that she had.  The chick one was so cute on her.  I took a number of pictures and with Kalie talking to her over my shoulder we finally got her to give us a little smile.

We had a great Easter!!!
