This last weekend Nancy and I had a bridal shower for Emily “Bubba”. We got to meet Mason’s Mom and sister, who looks a lot like Mason.

We had a pretty good turnout of guests which included Aunt Betty, Deb, Carolyn and Katie Umland, Sue, Micaela, Diane with Ollie, Dex and Libby. Megan brought Berkleigh and one of the Bubba’s good friends from college came. Of course for me, the special guests were Kalie and Emma. It was a chance for a lot of people to meet Emma for the first time.

I prepared some of the food and setup the Party Barn while Nancy and Ryli were in charge of the games and the yogurt bar, which was very good.

When Bubba had Megan’s baby shower back in June or July, we played game after game after game so Nancy and I made a mental note that we needed to play lots of games at her bridal shower. One of the games was Bridal Gift Bingo. Everyone had a Bingo card and they wrote in the squares the gifts they thought Bubba would receive.  Then later when she opened her gifts you could check them off. The last game was the best though. Nancy wrote a story kind of giving advice to Bubba and Mason. She gave everyone a wrapped item with a number on it.  Then she read the story which went something like this: “As you and Mason go through LIFE” (and she would ask whoever had #1 to open their package and it was a box of Life cereal). I think she had a total of 24 items in all so it was quite a story. It was great fun and it got everyone involved. And Bubba benefited because she received all of the items we opened.

The Bridal Gift Bingo was won by Megan . . . always a competitive girl!!

 

We are looking forward to the wedding next month and our trip to Arkansas City, Kansas.  Sounds like it will be a lot of fun with the reception in a barn.  Maybe we can kick up our heels a time or two on the dance floor.
