Trip to North Platte

We made our annual trip to North Platte for the Buffalo Bill Rodeo. We always camp at Lake Maloney and if we don’t go out to the Gragg ranch, we try to do some fishing.

The weather was great this year – usually the wind is blowing so hard the tent leans in on us. The cotton from the Cottonwood trees was flying all over, it almost looked like snow at times. This is a suppose to be a picture of the cotton, but you can’t see it. You can see its a nice campground.

With the price of gas, we decided to take the car. Of course, a lot of the little things that we have in the truck we use when we go camping like, duct tape, bungi cords and can opener. This year we forgot so many things, we decided our brains went on vacation before we even left home!!

Friday before the rodeo we went over to the outflow to do a little fishing.

The water level was so high you can’t tell there’s a drop off where the water goes out into the canal.

Saturday afternoon we went over to the other side of the lake where the water comes in. The sun was beating down pretty hard and I didn’t want to get burned, so I used the umbrella.

Ken caught a nice catfish that he cleaned and we gave to Jim and Judy Gragg after the rodeo.

Ken also caught a carp – I didn’t catch anything. I wasn’t fast enough putting my umbrella down and grabbing my pole. Oh well, it was nice just sitting there enjoying the day.
